We often all put our trust to those who
are in authority; or seek advice to whom we trusted like our parents; friends;
older companions; philosophers and books; however we should not forget to put
trust and pour our heart to the supreme authority our heavenly Father Jehovah. By giving our supplication
trough prayer and following His words thru the inspired Scriptures the
Bible.
Now we should examine what the Bibles say if the soul
survives the death of the body. Nowhere does God’s inspired Word, the Bible,
say that humans have an immortal soul. Let us Read the account at Genesis 2:7 .
It says: “Jehovah God proceeded to form
the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of
life, and the man came to be a living soul.” That is clear and unambiguous.
When God created the first man, Adam, He did not put some kind of immaterial
principle into him. No, for the Bible says that “the man came to be a living
soul.” The man did not house a soul. He was a soul.
On the other
hand all of us have inherited sin and death from our forefather Adam. This
death is a cessation of existence, just as it was for Adam. In fact, in all its 66 books, the Bible never
links the terms “immortal” or “everlasting” with the word “soul.” On the
contrary, the Scriptures clearly state that the soul—the person—is mortal. The
soul dies.—Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10;As reference lets read Ezekiel 18:4. Look! All the souls—to me
they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me
they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die
11 In
the Hebrew Scriptures, the English word “soul” comes from the Hebrew word ne′phesh, which appears over 750 times.
Its equivalent in the Greek Scriptures is psy·khe′,
which appears over 100 times. The New
World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
consistently renders these words as “soul.” Other Bibles may use a variety of
words. Some of the ways the King James Version translates ne′phesh
are: appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, dead (body), desire, heart, life,
man, mind, person, self, soul, thing. And it translates psy·khe′ as: heart, life, mind, soul. Clearly, the Bible’s use of ne′phesh and psy·khe′ shows that the soul is the person or, in the case of
animals, the creature. It is not some immortal part of an individual. Indeed, ne′phesh is even used of God himself:
“Anyone loving
So where is
the confusion; the Conflicting ideas about the soul have caused people to be
confused about God’s purpose for the earth. And the confusion is from the
theory of man or the philosophers. Take for example, the Greek philosopher
Plato felt that the soul “is incarcerated in the body as a punishment for the
sins which it committed in its heavenly state.”, Paul on the other intended to
counteract the influence of Plato’s philosophy. Plato taught that man has an
immortal soul that survives the death of the body. To those rose with such an
idea, the Christian teaching no doubt seemed unnecessary. Why if the soul
survives death, what is the point of a resurrection?
So as soul we
should be movable in seeking first the truth and its kingdom by studying a
